Little Bit of Nothing
I've seen worse...

I have a one track mind. I'm not like other women who are good at multi-tasking. I can if I have to. But I'm not good at it. I tend to focus on one thing at a time until it's done. The track I'm on right now is baby track. So I've sort of disappeared for awhile. Here's a quick summary:

Abby has been in school since the 9th. Well, actually she missed two days with a fever. She hasn't liked school yet. The reading is just absurd for her. It's like asking a grown up to read See Spot Run. She has to do it over and over again. I understand that she's bored with that. But she needs a lot of work on her handwriting and spelling so this year will still be good for her. I was really hard on her at first. I can't imagine why a kid who can read a 200 page chapter book can still write her j's, g's and f's backwards. Have you not seen them a thousand times? But after making her cry for the dozenth time, I've decided to let up and pretend like she's not as smart and that this is good for her. That's why Luke gets away with so much. Anyway, she likes eating lunch there but thinks the day is too long. She also hates riding the bus home. Too bad. We had to do it. I think things will get better...I hope. Maybe if it weren't 162 degrees outside.

Luke enjoys having time without Abby. This will be really good for him. When he's with Abby he can't think for himself. He asks her permission for everything. Ridiculous. I've noticed his behavior is better without her, for the most part. He still steals candy when I fall asleep. And I've never met someone who can lie so easily and really stick with it under intense interrogation. It's a dangerous gift. Also, we've been having a bit of preschool ourselves. He's a lot smarter than he seems. He doesn't like coloring. He likes pencil work, like matching and patterns. We're going to start working on reading soon.

Willow is great. Sometimes I think she looks just like Luke did as a baby and sometimes I think she looks completely different than the other two. She eats very well but sleep is inconsistent. She is quite stubborn about it. When she wants to be held, there's no amount of screaming that will put her to sleep. I've let her cry in bed for up to a half an hour with no stop. (She's crying as I type.) I can settle her or give her a pacifier but it doesn't work if she wants to be held. Spoiled. But when she gets like that I have a good excuse to just sit with her and read. At night we are up to about 6 hours between feedings. I'm pleased with that for a two week old. She's healthy and very pretty when she wants to be. Even the prettiest babies can make some weird faces. She has really pretty eyelashes. I wonder if they will be like Luke's. He has lashes like a camel. Willow also has pretty lips and a nice complexion. She smiles a lot and poops constantly. What more can I ask for?

As for me, each day is a bit better than the last. I made it through the rough stuff as far as pain. My stomach is all lumpy but I've lost a lot of weight so I can't complain. I'm still sleepy a lot. That's frustrating. I'm ready to get busy but I can't stay awake. I'm looking forward to running, but then again, I'm not. I've been reading a lot. Kristina let me borrow the Harry Potter books. I have really enjoyed the first three. They keep getting bigger. I'm always a few years behind on what's popular. This used to embarrass me but now I don't mind. I save a lot of money and anxiety that way.

There's more I can say since I just had a lot of Mt. Dew. But the girl is still screaming at me. I'll save some for later.
