The nightmare that is the half marathon is over. At least it wasn't a nightmare for Jamie. He reached his goal. He did a great job and kept a great pace. Here are his results:
| 950 | James | Newcomb | 184 | 18/83 | 160/706 | 1:43:47 | 7:53 | 25:25 | 49:25 | 1:13:00 | 1:43:05 |
It was a nightmare for me. I learned nothing from all the hard training. I know my style is to start the first mile slowly and then hit my pace. But no, I had to start too fast and it was on hills. I blew it. I was tired right away and never recovered. I had to stop and walk too many times to count. I was miserable. I couldn't get my mind wrapped around it either. I kept thinking I was farther along than I was. Then I would get disappointed/defeated. And don't tell me I did a good job just for finishing. I didn't do a good job. I had a goal and a plan and I blew it. I really wanted to break at least 2:10. I thought I could. I blew it. Here were my crappy results:
| 1345 | Laura | Burton | 869 | 61/118 | 338/747 | 2:17:41 | 10:28 | 28:59 | 1:00:25 | 1:33:45 | 2:16:59 |
I'm really proud of Jamie, though. The fact that he did so well makes it worth it. Good job, James. And thank you for training me all those weeks.
I guess I'll stick with 5K's for awhile. There's one Thanksgiving morning if anyone wants to join us.
