A business proposition...
I have a deal for any of you out there with your own business. At my Tomboy Tool parties, I will be distributing small door prizes and hostess gifts. I would be more than happy to include a business card or other business information in those gifts for a small price. Not money. Candy!..or some other small items like that (maybe a sample from your business). This is a great opportunity to advertise to women without even being there. I'm thinking this would be great for people who sell Creative Memories, Mary Kay, Partylite, Pampered Chef, Home and Garden, jewelry, Tastefully Simple, etc. If they're at my party, they may be interested in yours. And maybe I can get my own business card into your party. It's a win-win situation. Pass this info on to anyone you know in this type of business and give them my email: laura.burton@gmail.com or my website lauraburtontools.com. Thanks! Posted by: Laura @ 8/31/2006 01:27:00 PM

I never thought I'd be so happy to pay $2 a gallon for gas.

Open For Business
I am officially a Tomboy Tools Consultant. That's right. I sell tools. In fact, I sell really cool tools for women (but men like them too because they are so cool). I'm really excited about this new business. I doubt many of you have even heard of Tomboy Tools. Please check out my website lauraburtontools.com to find out what a great company this is. I'm really looking forward to meeting lots of new people, having a business to work on and actually making a little money. If you or someone you know is interested in hosting a party please contact me. The tool parties are great because it gives women a chance to actually practice using tools they may have never had a chance to use before. They can ask questions without worrying about what people will think. They get advice and encouragement to accomplish their own home improvement projects. And a big thank you to my friends who have already expressed an interest in hosting a party. If you check my website, be sure to answer the poll question and check the calendar regularly. Did I mention a tree fell on my fence a few weeks ago? The good news is I finally had a good reason to get a chainsaw.

The deck is gone except for some poles. My parents came over Sunday to help us. They are the hardest working people I know. And it was all completely selfless. They got nothing from it. And my dad even had a gimpy knee. We burnt the bad boards on top of two old stumps so now I have two large burn holes in my yard. It took care of two problems at once, but it made a very hot day a whole lot hotter. My parents took the rest of the boards home with them. Another problem solved. Thanks mom and dad (and Uncle Danny).

We put an ad in the paper Friday to sell our pool. We got several calls the same day. Saturday, the first guy bought it. Now we just need to get the deck off. My hands are sore.
