Little Bit of Nothing
I've seen worse...

Yes, it's true. We finally got a puppy. I would post a picture but I don't know how to use blogspot. We wanted to wait until we moved, but that may never happen. (http://1931lombard.com/) Granted, we don't advertise at all, but it felt like a waste when we did it back in May and June. Anyways, back to the puppy. Her name is Bailey and she is a Border Collie mix. We went to the Animal Planet Expo Saturday hoping to see a bunch of different organizations trying to get rid of dogs. But all that was there were three dogs from the VHS. They were alright but not quite right. So went to the VHS. Apparently they moved. So we went to the new VHS. It was really nice. The old one was crap. We saw a 7 month old Husky mix that we thought was a possibility but we weren't connecting with her. We told them we would think about it. They gave us a four page document to fill out to see if we are good enough and they said she couldn't leave until Wednesday because they wanted to spay her. This all sounded a bit complicated for a dog we weren't even sure about that they were probably going to kill anyways. So I remembered that Petsmart has an adoption center although I've never seen anything good there. But we went. The adoption center once again had crap: a few really expensive cats. I didn't even notice the crowd gathered just outside the adoption area until Jason came over and said, "Don't look down there." So I looked, and through the crowd I saw a small ring of puppies and my eyes locked on one black ball of fuzz. I worked my way through the crowd and grabbed her. She was so calm. I said, "I really like her but is there any other you want to look at?" And Jason said, "No, she's the one." Or something like that. So we signed two papers (nothing to fill out) and she cost $5 bucks less than the VHS. It was through PAAWS of Newburgh. We bought her a few things from that store with the coupons they gave us and then got a few more things from Sam's and took her home. Abby had lots of bad names for her, but her favorite was Leiah, as in Princess Leiah. Honestly, I have no idea how it's spelled. Jason liked Trinity. I didn't like either. I liked Bailey. Somehow I got my way. Abby likes it. She's around 14-15 weeks old. And still very calm with spurts of hyperactivity. It took her awhile to go anywhere in the house. We had to go with her. It took her a few days to even go in the kitchen by herself. Monday night was the first time she really ate anything out of her bowls. She was scared of them. She still won't go in the bathroom because we have never invited her in. She won't stay in the laundry room for long even though that's her bedroom. She still sleeps on the floor next to her big fluffy bed. Today I trained her to sit. Well, she's starting. We're also working on Come, but that will take awhile. Luke doesn't even obey that one. So far she's only pooped in the house once and that was right after we brought her home. She also puked that day too. We've had a few peeing accidents, but not a single accident over night. She has been very good for a three month old. I'm flying through the baggies. She's a bit quirky, but she's great. She fits right in.
